Has it ever happened to you that you are so passionate about an idea or a change that you want to bring that you start on an initiative without a detailed plan and give your everything to it? If the answer is yes, then join the club!
Last year, after releasing my book “Fast-track Your Leadership Career”, I received a lot of emails from women globally how the book was helping them create an actionable plan for a leadership career. I also received messages from many women who wanted to buy my book but it wasn’t available through Amazon in their country. These women wanted to learn, to be empowered and inspired but did not have access to my book. I had to find a way to share my experiences with them. Enablement is my core competency. I knew that different people consume information in different ways and to have the maximum impact,I had to meet all these emerging women leaders where they are in their leadership journey. And the idea of eWOW was born just 1 month after the book release.
I remember getting up one morning and asking my husband how does “eWOW” sound? He said “for what”? I said, I am starting eWOW – it will be a platform to empower women to discover, visualize, and actualize their success. My husband looked at me in disbelief. He knows that I am a planner. I need to have a project plan for everything. And to get up one morning and say “I am starting an initiative” was so not me. But he knew how strong I felt about empowering women so he wanted to make sure that I had thought through this. He asked me questions that helped me put together a basic framework. And there it was! eWOW was a reality by November 2018. My evenings and weekends were devoted to the cause while my husband and mom held the fort at home. There were times when I put in my month’s savings into it. There were sleepless nights, disappointments, a lot of learning, missed events with my family and kids, but the thought of abandoning this initiative never crossed my mind.
We started with podcasts that are available on 11 platforms and have audience in over 20 countries. We had our first virtual summit in April and we had women from across the globe join us. We have already touched over 30,000 women and our goal is to empower 100,000 emerging leaders this year. The immense support that I got from leaders in my network strengthened my belief in the power of positivity and giving back.

On May 16, 2019 I was recognized as a Woman of Influence by Silicon Valley Business Journal for empowering other women. This is the second award in 2019. In March 2019, I was the Women Empowerment-game changer award winner. But the most important awards are the messages that I get from women around the globe on how they derive inspiration and learn through eWOW.
I am so happy I didn’t wait to put a business plan together, to ask for funding from anyone and just jumped in with one goal- to bring out a leader in every woman.
So if you have an idea that you are passionate about and can help the world be a better place, don’t wait! Jump in…every life that you touch and make better will make the journey worthwhile.
